ANNUAL CCGI LECTURE 2006BIOGRAPHYRoberto S. GoizuetaRoberto Goizueta was born in Cuba and came with his family to the United States when he was six years old. A graduate of Yale University, he completed his M.A. and Ph.D. at Marquette University. He is currently a professor of theology and director of the undergraduate program in the theology department at Boston College. His teaching and research interests include U.S. Latino/a theologies, theology and culture, theological aesthetics, and Christology. Dr. Goizueta served as the president of the Academy of Catholic Hispanic Theologians of the United States, 1990-1991 and as president of the Catholic Theological Society of America, 2004-2005. Some of his recent publications are: "The Symbolic World of Mexican American Religion," in Horizons of the Sacred: Mexican Traditions in U.S. Catholicism, (2002), "A Ressourcement from the Margins: U.S. Latino Popular Catholicism as Lived Religions," in Theology and Lived Christianity (2000), and "Locating the Absolutely Absolute Other: Toward a Transmodern Christianity," in Thinking from the Underside of History: Enrique Dussel's Philosophy of Liberation (2000). Dr. Goizueta is married and he and his wife have three children. Margaret R. PfeilMargaret R. Pfeil is an assistant professor of moral theology at the University of Notre Dame. After obtaining a B.A. from Notre Dame (1987), she earned an M.T.S. from Weston Jesuit School of Theology (1994) and a Ph.D. from Notre Dame (2000). She is a founder and staff member of St. Peter Claver Catholic Worker House in South Bend. Her articles have appeared in Louvain Studies, Josephinum Journal of Theology, The Journal for Peace & Justice Studies, and the Mennonite Quarterly Review. She is currently finishing a book, Social Sin: Social Reconciliation?, and with Margaret Eletta Guider, OSF, she is co-editing a volume, White Privilege: Implications for the Church, the Catholic University, and Theology. |
